About Me
Harry Monaghan
Internal Family Systems (IFS)-Informed Therapist
I spend my spare time creating music, doing photography, traveling, surrounding myself in nature, reading books (usually in a hammock) and connecting with both my human and dog friends.
I am an experienced psychotherapist, having worked for more than 10 years as a clinician in the community mental health field supporting young people, adolescents, adults and families facing significant complex trauma (professional background and training). I am someone who values authenticity, humor and real connections. I try to keep therapy as human as possible, no unnecessary jargon and no clinical scripts, just genuine conversations that meet you where you are.
I know first-hand how complex and messy healing can be. My own experiences of trauma growing up shaped not only who I am but also the work I do today. I’ve had to navigate my own inner world, do the deep work of healing and learn what it means to show up for myself. Doing my own work has allowed me to be a self-led, available and attuned therapist, who can truly hold space for others in a way that is grounded, compassionate and present.
After navigating multiple other forms of therapy, it was IFS that finally helped me make sense of my inner experience and supported the most meaningful and lasting change. I have found this same approach to be the most helpful when supporting others, it gives people a way to understand what’s happening inside them with kindness rather than self-blame and helps change unfold in a way that feels safe, steady and lasting.
This personal journey, along with my professional experience, has given me a deep respect for the courage it takes to seek support.
